Our Story

How We Began

We didn’t start with a factory or a showroom.

We started with off-cuts.

Bits of strong, beautiful wood left behind on carpenters’ floors. The kind that still smells of sawdust and sun. The kind you can’t replicate with plastic or press-board.

We began collecting them. Shaping them. Polishing them by hand. And offering them to families who care about what enters their homes and what their children touch.

Today, Teakore is still guided by that same belief: that the smallest pieces can hold the biggest meaning.

That forgotten piece becomes a child’s first puzzle.

A keepsake passed from hand to hand.

A simple object that makes a home feel warmer.

We don’t just make things to be used.

We make things to be remembered.

Who We Are

Teakore is a women-owned business built on the belief that care and craft can change how we live with the things around us.

We are driven by values: giving forgotten wood a new purpose, supporting local artisans, and creating products that feel safe, thoughtful, and lasting.

Being women-led shapes our choices - how we work with balance, how we design for families, and how we think about the future we leave for children.

At heart, we are makers. Listeners. Problem-solvers.

We believe the smallest details - a smooth edge, a safe finish, a story behind a piece - can carry the greatest meaning.

Our Journey Forward

Our beginnings were small: a handful of offcuts, shaped and polished into simple objects. But from the start, we’ve believed that small actions can grow into lasting change.

As we move ahead, our path is guided by three commitments:

Our Journey of Support

From the beginning, Teakore has grown with the support of those who share our vision.

Local furniture makers who trust us with their offcuts.

Artisans who bring their skill and time to shape each piece.

Partners and early backers who believe that small, sustainable ideas can grow into lasting change.

We haven’t built this journey alone — and we don’t intend to.

Every grant, every collaboration, every conscious investor adds to a circle of support that allows us to do what we do best: transform discarded wood into products with meaning.

For us, funding is not just about growth. It’s about alignment. Working with people and organizations who value sustainability, craftsmanship, and community as much as we do.

Reclaiming More Wood

Expanding our partnerships with local furniture makers to rescue larger volumes of offcuts and keep more wood out of waste streams.

1

Supporting More Artisans

Building steady employment and training opportunities for local craftspeople who carry forward the tradition of hand-making, while earning a fair livelihood.

2

Tracking Our Impact Transparently

Measuring the kilos of wood reclaimed and the number of artisans supported, so our growth is tied directly to measurable positive outcomes.
